08/06/2023 ABC reports that the U.S. took swift action by sending multiple Navy destroyers and an aircraft to the Aleutian Islands after U.S. lawmakers claimed that 11 Russian and Chinese ships had approached U.S. waters. Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, called the foreign patrol unprecedented in size. But U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) said in a statement that the foreign patrol vessels had been staying in international waters and were not considered a threat.
